Everything we do for the benefit of others in need is truly for our own good and inevitably it will be us that benefit Inshaa Allaah. Not only does fasting help us control our desires and train us for the rest of the year from the many physical and spiritual benefits, but fasting also gives us compassion for the poor and needy.   Most of all however, fasting brings us closer to Allaah and instils Taqwa in our hearts- which ultimately is a means for attaining Allaah's pleasure and receiving Jannah as a reward and avoiding the fire of Hell.   Feed the Fasting in Masjid Al Aqsa is eligible for your Zakat as this is aimed for the poor and destitute.
