By Sheikh Yahyaa bin 'Alee al-Hajooree An excerpt from the book by Shaykh Yahyaa al-Hajooree, Ahkaamul-Jumu'ah, on the ruling of Salaatul-Jumu'ah when it coincides with 'Eid and the preservation of the Dhuhr salaah. Ibn Qudaamah related in al-Mughnee (2/358) that 'Umar, 'Uthmaan, 'Alee, Ibn 'Abbaas, Ibn 'Umar, Ibn az-Zubayr, ash-Sha'bee, an-Nakha'ee and al-Awzaa'ee all said that attending Jumu'ah becomes excluded if it conjoins with the 'Eid. As for the Dhuhr prayer, then there is no proof for its omission.   In the name of Allaah, the Most Beneficent, Most Merciful, Chapter: Ruling of Jumu'ah coinciding with 'Eid    Abu Daawood, may Allaah have mercy upon him, reported that 'Ataa' bin Abee Rabaah said, "('Abdullaah) ibn Zubayr once led us in the early morning in the 'Eid prayer, and it happened to be on a Friday.  Then we went to attend the Friday prayer, but he did not come out to us (to give the khutbah).  So we prayed separately (without a congregation).  And Ibn 'Abbaas at that time was in at-Taa'if, so when he came back, we informed him about this.  He said: 'He has followed the sunnah.'"
