Brother Abdullah M ,assalamo alaikom

I'm wondering how u r sending to all ur shia brothers n sisters a hadith From the Holy Prophet, (peace be upon him n his progency) which is single (wahida) But u ignore a hadith which is frequent (motewatir)  in sunni brothers books? [ I mean Hadith alThaqalayn].

U say a hadith which is in Abu Da wud and At-Tirmidhi but y don't u point out alThaqalayn? which is In Muslim (Sahih, ii, 237 ¬ 238, and Ahmad ibn Hanbal (Musnad, iv, 371) ),  At-Tirmidhi, and al¬Nasa'i,?

Al-Thaqalayn is narrated  in many of traditional (hadith) n historical n  interpretational (Tafsir) sunni books. About 30 companions ( sahabe) n 19 companions of companions ( Tabe'in) have narrated it.

If u want, I can give u the addresses in ur books. n I'm sure u know the hadith very well:

Muslim says:) Zuhayr ibn Harb and Shuja` ibn Makhlad narrated to me from `Ulayyah that he said: Zuhayr said: narrated to us Isma`il ibn Ibrahim, from Abu Hayyan, from Yazid ibn Hayyan, who said: "I, Husayn ibn Sabrah and `Umar ibn Muslim went to see Zayd ibn Arqam. When we sat down with him, Husayn said to him, 'O Zayd, you have been greatly fortunate. You have seen the Messenger of Allah, upon whom be Allah's peace and benedictions, heard his speech, fought with him in battles and have prayed behind him. Indeed, O Zayd, you have been enormously fortunate. Narrate to us what you have heard from the Messenger of Allah , may Allah's peace and benedictions be upon him.'

"Zayd said: 'O brother, by God, I have become aged and old and I have forgotten some of what I used to remember from the Messenger of Allah , upon whom be Allah's peace and benedictions. So accept what I narrate to you and as to what I don't, trouble me not regarding it.' Then he said: 'One day the Messenger of Allah , upon whom be Allah's peace and benedictions, addressed us near a pond called Khumm between Makkah and Madinah. He praised God and extolled Him and preached and reminded (us). Then he said, "Lo, O people, I am only a human being and I am about to respond to the messenger of my Lord [i.e. the call of death]. I am leaving behind two precious things (thaqalayn) among you. The first of the two is the Book of Allah. In it is guidance and light. So get hold of the Book of Allah and adhere to it." Then he urged and motivated (us) regarding the Book of Allah . Then he said, "And my Ahl alBayt (family). I urge you to remember God regarding my Ahl alBayt. I urge you to remember God regarding my Ahl alBayt. I urge you to remember God regarding my Ahl alBayt"'" ....

(Sahih Muslim, part 7, Kitab fada'il alSahabah [Maktabat wa Matba`at Muhammad `Ali Subayh wa Awladuhu: Cairo] pp. 122-123.)

In the single hadith u mentioned in ur email, The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him n his progency) has said: So hold fast to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs who will come after me

But in the frequent hadith (alThaqalayn),  he (peace be upon him n his progency) has said: I am leaving behind two precious things (thaqalayn) among you. I urge you to remember God regarding my Ahl alBayt

So I beg u to be fair n judge fairly ,  n don't ignore this important frequent hadith

Hold fast to the Sunnah of Messenger of Allah (PBUH)

Posted: 23 Sep 2010 05:09 PM PDT

`Irbad bin Sariyah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

One day, Messenger of Allah (PBUH) delivered a very effective speech, as a result, eyes shed tears and hearts became softened. A man said: "O Prophet of Allah! It sounds as if this is a farewell speech, so advise us.'' He (PBUH) said, "I admonish you to fear Allah, and to listen and obey even if a black slave has been appointed as your leader. For whoever among you lives after me will see much discord. So hold fast to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs who will come after me. Adhere to them and hold fast to them. Beware of Bid`ah (in religion) because every Bid`ah is a misguidance.''

Make Salat (prayer) long and sermon short

Posted: 23 Sep 2010 04:32 PM PDT

`Ammar bin Yasir (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:

I heard Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying:

"Prolonging Salat (prayer) and shortening the Khutbah (religious talk) indicate the religious knowledge of the person. Make your Salat long and your sermon short.''

[Muslim]

Commentary:
A prolonged Salat (prayer) by no means implies a disregard of worshipper's constraints. It is indeed forbidden. Rather the Imam is emphatically told to perform a brief and concise Salat because his followers also include, amongst others, the weak, the aged and the sick people. Herein an emphasis is laid on prolonging Salat instead of Khutbah (religious talk). The Friday Khutbah is meant to be brief. It must not be too lengthy in relation to a brief Salat offered heedlessly and in sheer haste. Salat must be offered in all humility and with full attention and concentration of mind. Furthermore, a worshippper ought to maintain a well-paused equilibrium in different postures of its performance. Brevity should be kept in view of Khutbah.
