[shia_strength] [Salaf.Com] Collecting for Pakistan flood victims | Zakaat | Fidyah | Sadaqa | Donations - All welcome!

Salafi Publications is collecting & fund raising for the poor & flood victims of Pakistan

We are now collecting donations, sadaqa, zakaat & fidyah for the poor & flood victims in Pakistan, we will be sending the funds with a salafi brother who will personally be distributing the money & food to those desperately in need. There are thousands of people that have been left with no homes, food, water, aid, medicine & livestock. The monsoon rains caused extensive flooding throughout Pakistan, killing more than a thousand people and causing widespread damage. Around 17.2 million people have been affected and 1.2 million homes have been damaged or destroyed.

This is your opportunity to help those who are in dire need of help from their Muslim brothers & sisters!

Where the funds will be used

We will be using the funds to pay for various items ranging from food, clean water, medicine, aiding the clean-up operation, transportation, rebuilding of houses and living quarters, also anywhere else the funds will be of aid to those who are in need ranging from the old, young, families, orphans, widows & communities.

Updates

We will be posting live updates from Pakistan so you can see where and what the funds are being utilised for. Please refer to www.salafitalk.net or on www.twitter.com/salafitalk for further details on when we will begin the distribution process.

What you can donate

Donations/Sadaqa any amount that you can afford, please state clearly when donating that it is for the Pakistan Appeal.

Fidyah from those eligible at a rate of £2.50 (GBP) per day missed of fasting. This is for the pregnant or breast-feeding woman who did not fast due to difficulty upon herself or her child. This is also to be paid by the 'permanently' sick or old person who is not able to fast at all (even after Ramadhaan). This will only be distributed as food to those in need in accordance to the Sunnah.

Zakaat upon general wealth is obligatory upon every Muslim who's wealth reaches a certain prescribed level (nisaab) and which has been in your possession for a year. It is payable every hijrah year. The amount of wealth after which zakaat is obligatory is 85 grams of gold which comes to approximately £2,200 (GBP) or $3,400 (USD) or if you have silver then it is 595 grams of silver.

So calculate how much your gold, silver, cash savings amount to by adding them all up, then pay 2.5% of its value as Zakaat. This is your wealth that you have possessed for a year multiplied by 0.025 - that is your Zakaat. In other words for every £1000 (GBP) you possess, you must pay £25 (GBP) as Zakaat.

Note: You MUST pay Zakaat on all your wealth once it reaches the nisaab amount and it has been in your possession for a year. Zakaat must be paid on the following:

* Cash notes and coins
* Gold that is stored away
* Gold jewelery that is worn
* Silver
* Cash savings in banks

Zakaat is also payable on crops, fruits, camels, cattle, sheep and goats. This requires a separate type of calculation.
