Zardari says Pakistan united against militants
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari
President Asif Ali Zardari has announced that all Pakistanis fully support the ongoing operations against the country's militants.
The country is united behind the efforts to defeat the militants, Zardari said in a meeting with Canadian National Defense Minister Peter Mackay in Islamabad on Tuesday.
He also urged the international community to help Pakistan deal with its extremism problem.
In addition, the Pakistani president pointed to the need for international assistance in the rehabilitation of internal refugees who have been displaced from their homes.
According to UN figures, over 1.4 million people have been displaced in Swat Valley during the Pakistani army's recent operations against the country's militants.
Islamabad claims that its army has killed over 1000 militants in the restive Swat valley and its outskirts in the ongoing military offensive.

'US, Israel waging new satanic war in region'
Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah
Hezbollah Secretary-General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah has warned against a plot hatched by the West to create a new conflict in the Middle East.
During a televised speech broadcast on Al-Manar TV on Wednesday, Nasrallah said that the US and Israel are seeking to create a conflict between Iran and the Arab countries.
"The final battle that the US and Israel are waging in the region is a fight between Iran and Arab nations and Shia and Sunni Muslims," the Hezbollah leader said.
"If we foil such a plot to create the conflict, the US and Israel can no longer use its wicked weapon," he added.
The remarks were made after the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, met US President, Barack Obama, in Washington.
During the visit, the Israeli leader tried to convince US political leaders that Iran's nuclear issue must be solved before steps are taken toward establishing peace in the Middle East. US officials, for their part, emphasized the creation of an alliance of "moderate" Arab states against Iran.

CIA: Israel knows it can't mess with Iran
CIA Director, Leon Panetta
CIA Director Leon Panetta says Israel knows the fact that launching a military attack on Iran would mean "big trouble".
Panetta also said that Israel is aware that it needs to coordinate its strategy on Iran with other nations, The Jerusalem Post reported.
The CIA director acknowledged that he had recently visited Israel to warn its leaders against launching an attack on Iran.
"The Israelis are obviously concerned about Iran and focused on it. But [Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu] understands that if Israel goes it alone, it will mean big trouble. He knows that for the sake of Israeli security, they have to work together with others," Panetta said.
The CIA chief noted that assessing Iran's intentions is a "top priority" for the US adding that Iran was "not an easy intelligence target."

Ahmadinejad: Iran will turn enemy bases into hell
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad delivered a speech in
the central city of Semnan on Wednesday.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the country will crush any country that is used as a launch pad for a possible military operation against Iran.
"Today Iran has the power to turn any base that fires a bullet at Iran into hell," Ahmadinejad said in a speech in the central city of Semnan on Wednesday.
"In the past some [world powers] threatened Iran but today they cannot threaten Iran with their military power," he said.
"Today we declare that no country has the power to threaten Iran," Mehr news agency quoted Ahmadinejad as saying.
"Unfortunately, today there are some people who think that compromise with enemies will remove threats but experience has shown that whenever Iran softens its stance the enemies are emboldened," he added.
"If we want the threats to be removed we should steadfastly resist against the enemies," Ahmadinejad concluded.
