[MahdiUniteMuslims] Re: Fwd: Fwd: Economist: Shia Muslims in the Gulf

Dear All,

Salam,

It is indeed the call of the time for all Shi'a organizations in the world to come together and do whatever is within their means to at least raise their voices (on the internet, in print and wherever else they can) against the blatant ZULM that has been going on in places such as Bahrain and Kuwait in recent days.

The Shi'a have always lived as a minority but have always been able to protect and preserve their specific identity -- and that is because they have not left the side of the holy Ahlul-Bayt.

With the advent of oil in the 20th century, the enemies have got a new tool to counter the Shi'a cause.

However, in this day of information explosion and world-wide immigration of the Shi'a all across the world, the Shi'a too have a new means to propagate the word.

We should use it to its utmost for our benefit.

What has happened in Bahrain in the last few days must be brought to the notice of the global community in the correct manner.

This is a new wave of oppression. A citizen of a country has been deprived of his birthright citizenship by an oppressive and tyrannical government, and why only because he seems to disagree with the policies of the ruler.

Non-Shi'a Muslims are bweing resident permits and nationality in the country of Bahrain to change the d emography of the state in case the rulers are eventually forced to hold general elections in the country.

But that does not mean that we should bandon the cause of the hapless Palestinians. Because they too are oppressed Muslims.

 Thank you.

Sincerely,

Syed-Mohsin Naquvi

Shaukat bhai,

I could not agree with you more.

What's worse is that even many Shia organizations and Iran itself are concerned less with the plight of Shias than with that of the Palestinians, when the Palestinians do not give a toss about the Shias (and, in fact, supported Saddam Hussein in both Gulf Wars.)  The Shia Ummah needs to get its own house in order to focus on the persecution of our brothers at the hands of Baathists and Wahabis.

Peace.

Askari

Assallamun Alaikum :

UMAA , and for that matter such other Islamic organizations , rather than getting entangleded with natural disasters , and other clamaties across the globe ( something totally outside their respective mission and vision as well as out of their control ) must direct their energies and resources towards combatting the criminal acts of persecution and discrimination of shia Muslims in Bahrain , Kuwait , Saudi Arabia , Pakistan , Afghanistan and a few other Islamic states .

A large number of Muslim organizations exists in North America and other free societies of the west , but not a single word of support is uttered by either of these entities against the tyrannical islamic regimes for perpetrating acts of terror and discrimination identified as such in a British magazine about Bahrain. Saddam , the biggest cannable of all times was able to conduct a systemic genocide of Shia and Sunni Muslims for decades , but not much was done to stop him , except a December 31, 2007 statement from a california based Muslim Public Affairs council that condemned the post saddam Shia government of Iraq for hanging the Iraqi butcher on the day of Eid- ul- Adha !

Alas ! We the Muslims of the west have the audacity of shouting about Pan Islamism and appeals of unity to fight  Islamaphobia in this hemisphere .

May Allah (swt) bless us all .

Shia Muslims in the Gulf

Worrying times

A rise in sectarian tensions and official jitters across the region

Sep 23rd 2010 | Cairo
FOR minorities, success is best in small doses. Too much may stir bigotry and charges of dual loyalty, or even make some within the minority dangerously impatient for change. Shias on the Arab side of the Persian Gulf have long lived with such ironies. Largely ignored through centuries under Sunni rulers, they now feel increasingly exposed.
First came the Islamic revolution of 1979 in neighbouring Iran, whose ripples frightened those rulers and emboldened their Shia subjects, leading to ugly clashes that subsided only in the 1990s. The more recent rise of Shia influence in Iraq and the success of Hizbullah, the Shia party-cum-militia in Lebanon, have caused similar waves, made stronger by Iran's bid to become the dominant—and perhaps nuclear-armed—regional power.
Conditions for Shias vary among the Gulf monarchies but had until recently been broadly improving. In relaxed and relatively liberal Kuwait, where Shias account for a third of the ultra-rich citizenry, they have long been prominent in business and in government. Some hold high office in Bahrain, too, but proportionately far fewer than their two-thirds share of the island kingdom's population.
Saudi Arabia has the largest number of Shias at 2m-odd, but they are thinly diluted in a population ten times bigger and are subject to more systematic discrimination. No Shia has become a cabinet minister or general—or even a headmistress in a state school, reflecting the Saudis' severe Wahhabism, in effect the kingdom's official doctrine. Still, in recent years the Saudi government has loosened some strictures on Shia worship and forced extremist Sunni clerics to lessen their anti-Shia vitriol.
Those gains look fragile amid a mood of rising sectarian tension across the region. In Bahrain, months of agitation by Shias campaigning for greater rights have led to growing government fears of worse to come in the event of trouble with Iran. Pressure from Saudi-aligned Sunni radicals has led to a full-scale crackdown on Shia politicking. Widespread arrests, the closure of mainstream Shia websites and newspapers, and the banning of some Shia preachers from mosque pulpits have combined to tilt much of Shia opinion into sullen hostility to the state.

Sectarian jitters
Many Bahrainis were shocked when a prominent Shia cleric, Ayatollah Hussein Mirza Najati, was ordered to be stripped of his citizenship. By contrast, Bahrain's Shias often complain that the government has secretly given citizenship to thousands of foreign Sunnis in a bid to alter the sectarian balance. Moderate Shias still counsel patience with the ruling al-Khalifa family, whose promises of reform a decade ago had quelled unrest until now. But clouds may be gathering ahead of a parliamentary election due next month.
Kuwait's authorities have grown jittery, too. Following sustained pressure from Islamist Sunni members of parliament, the emirate revoked the Kuwaiti passport of Yasser al-Habib, a Shia preacher exiled in London, whose sermons suggesting that one of Muhammad's wives had poisoned the prophet prompted widespread outrage, including condemnation by fellow Shia clerics. Alarmed by a spate of calls for Sunni protests, Kuwaiti police have banned all public meetings.
More quietly, Saudi authorities have for months been harassing local Shia campaigners, arresting dozens and holding many for weeks at a time. A ban on fatwas by independent Sunni clerics has muted public attacks on Shias, but Sunni chat-sites on the internet still describe them menacingly as a fifth column for Iran.

Story.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim

The Three Cows

There was a green and fresh pasture, in which three cows lived,
a white cow, a black cow and a reddish-brown one. The cows were
kind to each other. They were nice to each other. They used to
graze in the meadow together. and they used to sleep near each other.
Till it happened one day, the reddish-brown colored lion of the
forest happened to pass that way. The lion was unhappy. It was
hungry, and was looking for a prey. On catching sight of the
cows it became glad, but couldn't attack them, because they
were together. So, the lion sat in a corner and waited till the
cows would separate from each other.
The cows were together and wouldn't part away from each other,
because they knew that if they were together, no predator could
attack them.

The lion lay in ambush nearby for two or three days. But the cows
continued to remain together, and wouldn't separate from each other.
The lion became unhappy.
A plan occurred to it. It went towards the cows, greeted them and
said: "How are you my friends? Are you fine? I have been remembering
you for a long time, but because I am too busy, I can't come to you
and ask about your health.
Today I said to myself: "Anyhow I should come and see you from near
and visit you."
The reddish-brown cow said: "Sir, your coming has really pleased us
and "brightened our pasture."
The lion said: "I have always remembered you, and have even ordered
a better pasture made ready for you."
The reddish-brown cow said:
"Sir, you have really obliged us and we are very thankful to you."
Both the white and the black cows were troubled by what their friend,
the reddish-brown cow said, and were grieved at its thoughtlessness.
They feared lest it should be deceived.
They said to each other: "Which forest has not got a better pasture?
- Why does the reddish-brown cow believe what the lion says? - Doesn't
it know that lions seek other animals only to prey on them?
The reddish-brown cow became more and more a close friend of the lion
each day. The black cow and the white cow advised it as much as they
could, but with no avail.
One day the lion said to the reddish-brown cow: "You know that the
color of our bodies is dark and that the color of the body of the
white cow is light, and you also know that the light color is the opposite
of the dark color. It would be very good if I eat the
white cow, so that there will be no difference among us any longer
and that we will be able to live together well."
The reddish-brown cow accepted the saying of the selfish lion and started
talking to the black cow to keep it busy, so that the lion could eat the
white cow with more ease. The white cow was left alone and was killed,
while the black and the reddish-brown cows were busy with idle talks.
Two or three days passed since the lion had devoured the white cow.
The lion, angry and uneasy, was lying in a corner, and the reddish-brown
cow was moving around the lion and grazing. The lion called the reddish-brown
cow. The cow answered: "Yes sir!"
The lion said: "The color of my body and the color of your body are
reddish-brown, and black does not go with our color. It will be very good if
I eat the black cow, so that in this forest we all will be of the same color."
The reddish-brown cow accepted and moved away from
the black cow.
The lion attacked and devoured the black cow, too. And as for the
reddish-brown cow, it was so filled with joy that it didn't know what to do.
It roamed and grazed and said to itself: "It is only me who has the color of the lion..."
A few days passed since the black cow had been devoured by the lion.
The lion roared and said. "O the reddish-brown cow! Where are you?"
The reddish-brown cow, shaking with fear, went forward and said:
"Yes sir!"
The lion said: "Today it is your turn, get yourself ready, I am going to eat you."
The reddish-brown cow, with great fear and horror said: "Why sir,
I am your friend. I did whatever you said. So why do you want to
eat me?"
The lion roared and said: "Friend of a friendless"! How is it
possible that a lion makes friendship with a cow?"
No matter how much the reddish-brown cow begged and entreated,
the lion didn't accept its words.
The lion attacked the cow.
The cow said: "Mr. Lion, please allow me to cry out three times
before you eat me."
The lion said: "Quickly, quickly!"
The reddish-brown cow cried out: "I was eaten the very day the white
cow was eaten. I was eaten the very day the black cow was eaten. I was
eaten the very day I made.... with you".
The lion devoured the reddish-brown cow very quickly. Then it said to
itself: "I have finished my job in this forest. Now I had better go to
other forests."
It is narrated that Imam Ali (as) has said:
It may happen that you ask (Allah) for something and He does not give
it to you in order to endow you with (something) of better quality (later).

I'm wondering how u r sending to all ur shia brothers n sisters a hadith From the Holy Prophet, (peace be upon him n his progency) which is single (wahida) But u ignore a hadith which is frequent (motewatir)  in sunni brothers books? [ I mean Hadith alThaqalayn].

U say a hadith which is in Abu Da wud and At-Tirmidhi but y don't u point out alThaqalayn? which is In Muslim (Sahih, ii, 237 ¬ 238, and Ahmad ibn Hanbal (Musnad, iv, 371) ),  At-Tirmidhi, and al¬Nasa'i,?

Al-Thaqalayn is narrated  in many of traditional (hadith) n historical n  interpretational (Tafsir) sunni books. About 30 companions ( sahabe) n 19 companions of companions ( Tabe'in) have narrated it.

If u want, I can give u the addresses in ur books. n I'm sure u know the hadith very well:

Muslim says:) Zuhayr ibn Harb and Shuja` ibn Makhlad narrated to me from `Ulayyah that he said: Zuhayr said: narrated to us Isma`il ibn Ibrahim, from Abu Hayyan, from Yazid ibn Hayyan, who said: "I, Husayn ibn Sabrah and `Umar ibn Muslim went to see Zayd ibn Arqam. When we sat down with him, Husayn said to him, 'O Zayd, you have been greatly fortunate. You have seen the Messenger of Allah, upon whom be Allah's peace and benedictions, heard his speech, fought with him in battles and have prayed behind him. Indeed, O Zayd, you have been enormously fortunate. Narrate to us what you have heard from the Messenger of Allah , may Allah's peace and benedictions be upon him.'

"Zayd said: 'O brother, by God, I have become aged and old and I have forgotten some of what I used to remember from the Messenger of Allah , upon whom be Allah's peace and benedictions. So accept what I narrate to you and as to what I don't, trouble me not regarding it.' Then he said: 'One day the Messenger of Allah , upon whom be Allah's peace and benedictions, addressed us near a pond called Khumm between Makkah and Madinah. He praised God and extolled Him and preached and reminded (us). Then he said, "Lo, O people, I am only a human being and I am about to respond to the messenger of my Lord [i.e. the call of death]. I am leaving behind two precious things (thaqalayn) among you. The first of the two is the Book of Allah. In it is guidance and light. So get hold of the Book of Allah and adhere to it." Then he urged and motivated (us) regarding the Book of Allah . Then he said, "And my Ahl alBayt (family). I urge you to remember God regarding my Ahl alBayt. I urge you to remember God regarding my Ahl alBayt. I urge you to remember God regarding my Ahl alBayt"'" ....

(Sahih Muslim, part 7, Kitab fada'il alSahabah [Maktabat wa Matba`at Muhammad `Ali Subayh wa Awladuhu: Cairo] pp. 122-123.)

In the single hadith u mentioned in ur email, The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him n his progency) has said: So hold fast to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs who will come after me

But in the frequent hadith (alThaqalayn),  he (peace be upon him n his progency) has said: I am leaving behind two precious things (thaqalayn) among you. I urge you to remember God regarding my Ahl alBayt

So I beg u to be fair n judge fairly ,  n don't ignore this important frequent hadith

Hold fast to the Sunnah of Messenger of Allah (PBUH)

Posted: 23 Sep 2010 05:09 PM PDT

`Irbad bin Sariyah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

One day, Messenger of Allah (PBUH) delivered a very effective speech, as a result, eyes shed tears and hearts became softened. A man said: "O Prophet of Allah! It sounds as if this is a farewell speech, so advise us.'' He (PBUH) said, "I admonish you to fear Allah, and to listen and obey even if a black slave has been appointed as your leader. For whoever among you lives after me will see much discord. So hold fast to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs who will come after me. Adhere to them and hold fast to them. Beware of Bid`ah (in religion) because every Bid`ah is a misguidance.''

Make Salat (prayer) long and sermon short

Posted: 23 Sep 2010 04:32 PM PDT

`Ammar bin Yasir (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:

I heard Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying:

"Prolonging Salat (prayer) and shortening the Khutbah (religious talk) indicate the religious knowledge of the person. Make your Salat long and your sermon short.''

[Muslim]

Commentary:
A prolonged Salat (prayer) by no means implies a disregard of worshipper's constraints. It is indeed forbidden. Rather the Imam is emphatically told to perform a brief and concise Salat because his followers also include, amongst others, the weak, the aged and the sick people. Herein an emphasis is laid on prolonging Salat instead of Khutbah (religious talk). The Friday Khutbah is meant to be brief. It must not be too lengthy in relation to a brief Salat offered heedlessly and in sheer haste. Salat must be offered in all humility and with full attention and concentration of mind. Furthermore, a worshippper ought to maintain a well-paused equilibrium in different postures of its performance. Brevity should be kept in view of Khutbah.
