15th of Rajab marks the martyrdom anniversary of the noble granddaughter of Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa S.A.W and Janabe Khadijat-ul-Kubra , the precious pearl of Hazrat Ali A.S and Janabe Fatema Zehra S.A and the cherished and beloved sister of Hazrat Imam Hasan A.S , Imam Husain A.S and Janabe Umme-Kulthum S.A. This virtuous Lady was born on the 5th of Jamadi-ul-Awwal in 6 A.H in Madina. Her holy grandfather , Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa S.A.W was very rejoiced on the birthday of His first beloved granddaughter. She was brought to her holy grandfather who embraced her and also cried while carrying her in His arms . This was unintelligible to all. As the tears were flowing down the cheeks of the holy Prophet S.A.W everyone especially Janabe Fatema S.A was upset to see this scene. When she asked her Holy Father about this affliction on the birthday of His granddaughter , He said : " My dear , this babygirl will be put to innumerable calamities and suffer great hardships." On hearing the sad future of her daughter Janabe Fatema S.A couldn't hold herself and burst into tears and asked her holy father about the reward for them who would mourn for her. The answer was that it would be equal to the reward for the people given on their mourning over Imam Husain A.S. Her name " Zainab " means " Ornament of father " and is combined by the two words Zain (ornament) and Ab (father). It is narrated that this name was sent by Allah through Hazrat Jibraeel to the Noble Messenger S.A.W on the birth of His holy granddaughter. It is written in the book of " Chaudah Sitare " that when Janabe Salmane Farsi extended his congratulations to Hazrat Imam Ali A.S he observed that the holy Imam weeped when He accepted the felicitations on her birthday and then informed him about the coming horrifying events which were destined for His daughter. Janabe Zainab was married to her cousin , Abdullah Ibne Jafar-e-Tayyar and was granted with four sons ( Aun and Mohammad were offered as her sacrifices for rescuing Islam in Karbala ) and also a daughter. We all know what happened in Karbala , the tragic event and the sacrifices for Islam will never be forgotten by the lovers of Imam Husain A.S. But what occured after the blood of the martyrs were shed in the battlefield? The calamaties , the tortures and the great hardships were now pointed to the holy Ladies and the ailing Imam Zain-ul-Abedeen A.S. But Janabe Zainab was the daughter of the Lion of God and really showed it to the world after the martyrdom of Imam Husain A.S. She kept the promise she had made to her holy brother, to endure all the pain and never show a sign of weakness to the tormentors! Allaho-Akbar , her tolerance and her magnanimous behaviour made the tyrants shiver. Her eloquent sermons in Kufa and in the court of Yazid in Shaam made the people recall the tone of her holy Father , Hazrat Ameer-ul-Momeneen A.S. She was the one who forwarded the message of her holy brother and revealed the brutal acts of the Yazid's regime. Her fearless and daring performance in the court of Yazid brought the enemies to its knees. She managed to establish the victory of truthfulness by her unique personality and proved herself to be a peerless noble Lady! After the release from the prison in Damascus , she laid the foundation of Azadari (mourning) of Imam Husain A.S and the first majlis was addressed by the 4th Imam A.S and Janabe Zainab. When she returned to Madina she continued to spend her days in mourning for Imam Husain A.S and to unveil the tortures of Yazid's ugly army. Her speeches became a threat to the ruler of Madina who required the daughter of Hazrat Ali A.S to settle down somewhere else. She left Madina and came to Egypt but still wasn't received any peace. Therefore she continued to Syria where she breathed her last on the 15th of Rajab in 62 A.H. She was 55 years old when she was martyred in an orchard by a gardener who was an enemy of the Ahlul-Bayt. Janabe Zainab is buried in Damascus where thousands of her lovers visit her holy shrine. Peace be upon her. We will never forget the sacrifices of Imam Husain A.S and Janabe Zainab. They are both Saviours of Islam. Today we all hear the saying : " Live like Ali and die like Husain ". But we all women also have unique and noble personalities to follow who paved the way for all the women in Islam , then why are we silent ? Shouldn't we say " Live like Fatema-e-Zehra and die like Zainab-e-Kubra "! On this day of sadness we should offer our pursa to our Living Imam A.S and I supplicate to God that He gives us the strength to manage to follow the right path of Islam and succeed in our endeavours to become obedient daughters , good wives and excellent mothers !
