CARRYING ISLAMIC RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE END

Allah says and His words are the guiding truth… The simple rendition of the meaning of this ayah is that Allah says that

He wants to favour those who have been oppressed in this world or Allah wants to be on the side of those who don't have power in this world and He wants them to become leaders and He wants them to become heirs. And Allah wants to have them stable/firm in the affairs of this world and He wants to show Pharoah and his assistant and the architect of His policy what they've always did not want to see coming from these people who have been powerless, disfranchised and oppressed for so long. (Surah Al Qassas verse 4-5)

This day of Jum'ah is a day in which the truth should be said regardless of the powers that be, power structures and powerful figures. This ayah speaks to the condition that we find ourselves in today. Remember, from beyond the power configurations of this world with their nation states, militaries, intelligence services and everything that they have come the words of Allah to those who are willing to listen. Some Muslims for a time listen to Allah. OK Allah: You want to favour us- the dislocated/poor/who don't have the means- and they carry this responsibility for a few/more years in their lives and then they begin to give up! Why do you give up when Allah is speaking to you and He is divulging to you His will? There have been other peoples in previous history who gave up on the first occasion in the first incident. This ayah from Surah Al Qassas, (that was quoted at the beginning of the khutbah), it is speaking about that first generation of the followers of Musa (alaihi as salaam). These were disfranchised/discriminated against/the underclass of society i.e. all the descriptions that we have that speak to the conditions of people in similar situations in our time/generation. Musa, with the will of Allah, had them liberated but they did not want to proceed with the burdens/responsibility that comes from liberation. They'd rather live as the underclass in a society such as the superpower society of their time if they can have access to some of the privileges/opportunities that that society gives to a few individuals from among them at the expense of the rest. So when they were liberated from Egypt and they came to Sinai i.e. the wilderness, they yearned for the good old days i.e. of slavery and servitude. They wanted to go back to those days.

They told Musa call upon your Lord so that  He can provide us with the herbs, vegetation, plants and the gourmet foods that was available in the previous society of oppressive Egypt. (Surah Al Baqarah verse )

They could not live the ground breaking role that was expected of them from on High.

This is our experience. Don't let current day Judeo/Christian interpretation of history interfere with the Qur'anic information that comes to us. On another occasion, these same people come upon a society that worships multiple gods and they tell Musa- the same way we can detect those who are today under Islamic cover-

… have us worship one God the same way they worship many gods (Surah Al A'raaf verse 138)

Meaning- they want to have a theology of one god that can be similar in its understanding and interpretation to those who have a theology that acknowledge other authorities/deities in the life of man. It's easy for Muslims to look at Israeli history and criticise them, but it's very difficult for Muslims to see the similarities between this Israeli history in the past and the current conditions and affairs of Muslims today. You see- the (initial) ayah is available and is a gift to those who are willing to pick off/resume the Islamic course of the future where the others left off and not to fall into the same mistakes and not to carry the same psychology and not to be guilty for the same disobedience that was the affair of those who preceded us on this very same path.

Brothers and sisters, committed Muslims…

The Prophet of Allah says be aware of a committed Muslim's insight as his vision comes from Allah or he sees with the light from Allah. We are supposed to have insight. We're not supposed to be dumb individuals and this day on Fridays is not the time to be dumbed down in the Masaajid (but) we are expected to enter into the Masajid empty minded and to leave the Masaajid without acquiring any information/insight into the affairs of this world. When Allah speaks about the Pharaoh, He is speaking about a worldly power and we can't take that information and place it in our world and begin to look at worldly powers?! They- meaning the Pharaohs of our time- want us to remain incapable of detecting their movements against us. As long as we have our congregational meetings, prayers, conferences and speeches and look askance when there are mega-powers around us working night and day to undermine this will from heaven as implemented by subjects of Allah on earth. They don't want Friday congregational prayers to be alert at their military movements in our own homelands and in the Islamic geography of the world. They are moving their armada in and around the Islamic birthplace- the Arabian Peninsula and any Muslim dare mention this fact?! We're not supposed to because they expect us to be vacant headed when it comes to their intrigue/penetration of an area of the world that they have no business being there. Their submarines and military bases are all around the place and we are supposed to act and believe that none of that is happening! How absent minded do they want us to be? According to this type of logic/mindset, Moses was not supposed to believe/think for one moment of the Pharaoh's power structure and how it operates pertaining to people who want to obey God; and that's the way they want us to think and behave. We tell them "those days are gone." The Imperial and racist powers of this world had, (at least), a couple of centuries of free reign in the Islamic territories of the world. Those were the times of Colonialism and Imperialism. Those days are on their way out. We should be able to have the insight. Allah gives us the information- what's wrong with us? We can't operate our God-given minds with this God given information to see through the obscurities of their propaganda and policies? The day has come and the day is quickly approaching when the Muslims are no longer propaganda victims. The mind control and the conditioning that has been going for so long belongs to our past; it doesn't belong to our future. There are some people who belong- as far as rituals are concerned- to our faith. They say "they are Muslims themselves." They are quickly being exposed by the unravelling of events, especially those who occupy the Ka'bah and Al Madinah the same way as the Zionists occupy Al Quds. We thank Allah that this insight that belongs to committed Muslims is gradually increasing as the years go by and those who are in cahoots against this Islamic self determination in the world are coming into the day of light- exposed as they should be- for all of us to deal with in the proper manner, not in the artificial trunked up ploys of reaction.

This khutbah was presented by Imam Muhammed Asi on the occasion of Jum'ah on 12 February 2010 on the sidewalk of Embassy Road in Washington D.C. The Imam previously led the daily and Jum'ah prayers inside the Masjid. His speeches were revolutionary and thought provoking, and eventually irritated and threatened the Middle-East Ambassadors who control the Masjid. Finally, the Imam, his family, and other Muslims faithful to the course of Islam were forced out, into the streets. This khutbah originates from the sidewalk across the street from the Islamic Center, currently under seige.
