King abdulaziz opens educational doors for expatriates and working saudi's

For the first time King AbdulAziz University is set to open the educational doors for Expatriates and Working Saudi's from October 2009. Jeddah Community College ( A part of King AbdulAziz University ) will be offering Associate Degreed in various specialities to Saudi and Non Saudi students. A meeting of School Principals from various schools was held recently at King Fahd Centre for Research in King AbdulAziz University. The school principals appreciated this move for their students. This will be for the first time that King AbdulAziz will offer paid degree courses for expatriates. The move is considered as highly useful to expatriates and working Saudi's by making quality education available to them. Higher educational opportunities in foreign countries will also be available to the graduates of Jeddah Community College.

Prof. Ibrahim Kutbi felt that many more students who previously did not have an opportunity to study in King AbdulAziz University in Jeddah due to financial or work timing constraints would now have the option of getting quality education in Jeddah.

Dr. Ahmad Abdulwahab felt that this was indeed a positive move in order to encourage the youth to develop their educational knowledge and to be strong assets to society.

The mission of Jeddah Community College is to provide the community with highly trained and competent graduates to meet the evolving needs of the job market, as well as utilizing local and international partnerships in order to accomplish this mission. JCC have established international tie-ups with Louisiana Community and Technical Colleges System (LCTCS) and in the process of signing a MOU with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training in UK (TVET). JCC is in the process of becoming a Microsoft IT Academy. One of the major achievements is becoming a candidate for international accreditation from the Council on Occupational Education (COE) which assures the high quality of our operations and programs.

Utilizing the above mentioned features of JCC support our mission to service the community. One way of serving the community is making higher education in the kingdom accessible for Saudis and non-Saudis. JCC is starting a new program starting from next semester which will be available for Saudis and non-Saudis. Six programs will be offered, Computer Networks, Insurance, Marketing, Sales, Accounting, and Pharmacy. These programs are offered in English with duration of three years including the cooperation. However, the Sales program is offered in Arabic with duration of three semesters.

JCC wishes that this program will fulfill the need of the local and international community in the region.

Community colleges are centers of educational opportunity. They provide an opportunity to the youth to learn modern skills required by the employers today.

The process of making higher education available to the maximum number of people continues to evolve at 52 Community Colleges all over the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This fast growth of community colleges is essential in order to prepare the youth for the workplace. Every community college is affiliated to a leading university in that city.

Community Colleges provide the proper direction to many students and also make available to them suitable job opportunities. Community colleges are a vital part of the postsecondary education delivery system.  They serve a large number of the undergraduate students in the kingdom, providing open access to postsecondary education, preparing students in the 3-year institutions, providing workforce development and skills training, and offering programs ranging from English as a second language to specialized skills like pharmacy, insurance, marketing, sales, accounting, computers etc, required by the community especially in the private as well as government sector.

Globalization is driving changes in our economy, and the need for an educated workforce has never been greater.  The majority of new jobs that will be created by 2014 will require some postsecondary education.  In addition, the demographics of the workforce are changing. As a result, in the future employers will only employ students who have adequate college education. King AbdulAziz is the leading University in providing quality education to all.

Today education reaches to almost most major cities and towns in the Kingdom through these community colleges.

Jeddah Community College offers its students a broad array of diploma's and associate degree programs. These programs range from business management , health professions , engineering to insurance.  Whether students want to take the course for personal enrichment or embark on an associate degree program, community colleges offer the programs that student's desire. Exceptional students can complete their Bachelor's Degree from the universities within the Kingdom or in foreign countries in other universities where there are tie ups with the community colleges.
