[shia_strength] |troid.org| Audio: Advice to the Salafees of the West Concerning Jarh wat-Ta'deel (Disparagement and Praise)

Bismillaah, wal-hamdulilaah, was-salaatu was-salaamu 'alaa rasoolillaah,

As Salaamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakatuh

A lecture from 2007, important reflections.

  • Which takes precedence – the jarh (criticism) or the ta'deel (praise)?
  • What is a Muslim to do, when faced with both (something that happens a lot, in many situations, even marriage proposals, business partnerships, many aspects of life – almost unavoidable)
  • When we find these situations, should we write it all off as 'fitnah' and flee from any stance and continue to take knowledge from all parties involved?

For those who have been been around for some time, they would have noticed these questions arise during the fitnah of 'Abdur-Rahman 'Abdul-Khaaliq, Adnaan Ar'oor, Abul-Hasan al-Ma'ribee and 'Alee Hasan al-Halabee. For those who survived those trials, steadfast upon al-Manhaj as-Salafee, they clung closely to the statements of the scholars and did not reject the detailed criticism from a scholar, nor did they ignore the allegiances, associations and cooperations (with ahlul-bid'ah) of the criticised one, rather it increased them in the conviction and understanding of that scholar's criticism. In each time, each fitnah, there are those who enter upon the ranks of the salafees, wearing their garments, shaking their hands, smiling in their faces, however, they cannot hide their aversion to the criticism (jarh) of the scholars and they cannot hide their associations – so take note of that and the below.

Review:

Amongst the pivotal points discussed:

  • Jarh wat-Ta'deel, is it reserved for the 'Ulamaa?

  • What to do when faced with a Jarh and a Ta'deel of the same individual

  • The Conditions and Benefits of Jarh wat-Ta'deel

The decisive talk is followed by questions and answers.

I remember the words of Imam (a.s), that we are responsible for the
