THE RIGHT TO FIGHT BACK PART 1

Be advised that there are responsibilities that are growing and affecting the general Muslim Ummah. Let us be down to the point about these responsibilities that may be characterised by the resumption of our military obligation. The Muslim Ummah, (to take one example), for the past half a year or so as well as the rest of the world are aware of a military campaign by the Russian Government concerning the Muslims in Chechnya, Askeria. What do you think our- the Muslims in the world- response should be when we have people who are in their military gear/fighter planes/tanks/armoured personnel carriers with all types of weaponry and weapons of mass destruction aimed at part of us? To speak up against it?! Obviously that is a form of response. It is not the appropriate/matching response but when you take a look at the Masjids in the world, do you think that the preachers would concentrate the Muslim mind/exercise Muslim attention on the plight of their brethren in that part of the world? The ayaat of the Qur'an leaves no question in our mind if we are aggressed upon/the victims of aggression/the targets of their military our response should be in kind/equivalent to the challenge. Allah says

Permission has been given to those who have been aggressed upon due to the fact that they have been oppressed by that aggression… (Surah Al Hajj verse 39)

If Allah has given us this permission to carry arms and to fight against aggressors who have launched their campaigns/wars inside of our territories/land/home then it is our right to take this war against them; but if you take an accurate look at the condition of today's Muslims- if Russians are fighting Muslims in Muslim lands in the Caucasus then we have the permit that Allah has given us to fight against them wherever they are, especially if they are in Muslim lands. If there are Russians who are inside Muslim countries, they should not feel secure when they are shedding the blood of Muslim in a prolonged/systematic military campaign that has cause two-hundred-thousand to three-hundred-thousand Muslims to leave their homeland to neighbouring countries and the number of causalities have not been counted yet but definitely they are in thousands. How can a Russian official/politician/diplomat/decision maker feel free/safe to walk anywhere in Muslim lands? But they do and the question is "why?" Because Muslims are not yet at the level of their responsibilities! The Muslim public is kept away deliberately/with elaborate plan. They are disengaged from their responsibility. Where do these responsibilities come alive? Of all places they should come alive in our Masjids but what do you when the same world order/globalisation process that has given orders to the Russian military to pursue a scorch-Earth policy of blood and fire against Muslim is using the instrument of the Russian Government on one front and the same globalisation process/world order/mega interests are the ones that are putting Muslims in a coma in the Masjid?! These are inter-related. It's because of the weakness of the Muslim mind in our time that it cannot see the relationship between what is happening to it at the warfront and what is being said to it at the Mihraab from the Mimbar! How many times before this military campaign against the Muslims in Chechnya have sincere Muslims tried to alert the Muslim public to the brewing campaign that are in the making now in places beside the Caucasus? There are wars that are being planned against the Muslims in other areas of the Ummah but how can Muslims foresee what is planned against them if they don't have the courage to look at what is happening to them now? It doesn't matter wherever you are in/ outside of the Muslim world at least nine-out-of-ten Masjids around are under occupation because Muslims are not permitted to think at the level of the responsibilities that they all share. If we were up to our responsibilities we would have no difficulties at all in targeting Russian officials wherever they happen to be because we are defending ourselves. We haven't taken this war into Russia. Have the Muslims attacked Moscow/Stalingrad/Levingrad/Saint Pietersburg or whatever other city in Russia? No. When we are being attacked they want to make us feel like we don't have the right to respond to these attacks and these types of Muslims who go into these types of Masajid come out with the feeling/impression that they are not under attack! How come? Doesn't the Prophet of Allah says Muslims are the like of one body. If a certain part of this body is inflicted with pain/duress then all of the body respond to them. But they don't want you to gain this type of feeling in the Masjid. Who is able to come out and speak about the incarcerations of the Mimbars in our Masjids? Our Masjids have become an accomplice to these crimes because of the type of people who run these Masjids. What is everyone afraid of? We have all the right in the world by whichever book/yardstick you are measuring- Muslims have the right to enjoy their civic/natural/human rights just like every other human being in the world. The Muslims who feel that way and who more importantly think that way are the ones who are accused and they dare not mention the names of the rest of the Muslims. Have you ever heard the name Usama bin Laden in that Masjid or any other Masjid around? Muslims who listen to these words- you from time to time may have the opportunity to attend Friday khutbahs at other congregations/Masjids around; who dare speak with confidence/courage/a frame of reference of the Qur'an and the Sunnah about people/individuals the likes of Usama bin Laden/Shameel Basayev in Chechnya. These should be contemporary heroes of Muslims. They're not involved in petty differences in fiqhi issue. They're not trying to create differences among Muslims because of their school of thought. They're out there on the frontline willing to give up their lives for Allah. What are they doing all this for? Are they doing it for Nationalism? Has anyone ever heard anyone of them trying to promote either Sectarianism/Nationalism or any other type of self interest? We are sure- as a brother Muslim- that if they had made any statement to that effect we would be reading about it in all of the media around us. They're not that type of people. We don't feel sorry for them; we feel proud of the position that they are in. We feel sorry for the rest of us who are going to be forced into those types of positions/on the defensive to begin with because, (up here), in our head we didn't have enough mental capability so physically they're going to try and take us by surprise. If they are doing this to us in Central Asia/Caucuses or any other area of the Ummah they can easily come around to the Muslims in the United States and place them in the same position. What are the Muslims in the United States going to do? They're going to look at the face of each other and say "I'm not going to be with that other Muslim because…" Because of what? "…because of some fiqhi issue." Meaning this fiqhi issue is going to divide the Muslim and it is going to serve the plan and the military strategy of the common enemy of all Muslims and you are a willing party to all of that. Is that what you want? Is this the type of Islam that the Prophet of Allah speaks to you/me about? A Muslim to another Muslim is like a structure; one part of it reinforces the other part of it. (Take a) and look at yourself- are you reinforcing your brother Muslim when we all have they type of enemy that shows no mercy concerning your historical ideas? The way you've analysed history doesn't count. He's not interested in that or what school of thought you belong to. He doesn't ask "oh what school of thought do you belong to" before he pulls a trigger. Why are you interested in it? It only interests him as long as he can use it to divide a wedge between you and your brother Muslim. Come on Muslims- let us mature/grow out of this rut that we are in. Let us be able to envision the future enemy of ours before he stabs us in the back or takes us by surprise. If there is not a militarization in the minds of the Muslims to at least defend themselves, these hawks around show no compassion when it comes to Muslims. They will shed your/my blood and they will not ask for any details. Before we approach that we should listen to Allah and the Prophet of Allah and then realise that the Ash Shaytaan is not going to leave us. Who is Shaytaan? (Is it) some historical figure or does Ash Shaytaan present itself in the real forces of life around us? Unfortunately the rock-and-tare/café Muslims and the Muslims who are to Saudi occupied Masjids want you /I to believe that Ash Shaytaan is some type of figure that doesn't have a material/physical presence in this world. If we keep on thinking of Ash Shaytaan like that Ash Shaytaan will keep on defeating us but when we see the Shaytaani forces at work that are extensions of this Shaytaan… (Take a) look- where is human rights all around? This Shaytaan has the ability to speak about human rights when Muslims are not involved and then this Shaytaan goes silent on these human rights issues when Muslims are involved. It is Ash Shaytaan himself that comes on the air and speaks about this issue or are they flesh/blood/bone human beings who speak the ideas/express the plan of Ash Shaytaan. Democracy- oh that's a good word. Everyone is supposed to believe in democracy. It's supposed to be a force that takes hold all around the world. "Democracy is good for everyone" but when it comes to Muslims Ash Shaytaan turns the other way and makes believe that Muslims don't exist and they don't deserve this "democracy." The record goes on. Ash Shaytaan has demonstrated himself to you from occasion to occasion. The Muslims in Chechnya are called "separatist Muslims/ bandits/terrorists" but you had people who are not Muslims in East Temur in Indonesia who have their affair solved through the Shaytaani instrument- the United Nations. You can almost predict how Ash Shaytaan is going to work. When the United Nations and the world order was planning an assortment of wars in Africa- (take a) look at Africa now- it's full of wars of all types- civil/cross border/tribal/for the resources of the continent… To sugar coat these wars Ash Shaytaan placed the Chairman of the United Nations as a person from Africa. (Take a) look at the way Ash Shaytaan works. The United Nations works in East Temur and the non Muslims there gained independence through the United Nations. Why couldn't the United Nations work in Chechenya/Kosova/Bosnia/Kashmir/Palestine? Because, (we should know the answer to that if we are Muslims who are able to think/process what Allah and the Prophet is saying to us)

They will continue/persist in waging war against you until you are deflected from your deen… (Surah Al Baqarah verse 217)

Not from your rituals. They could care less about your rituals. You can go ahead and saturate your life with all the rituals you want- they're not concerned with that; but when you understand Islam as the reorganisation of the affairs of man on the basis of justice/peace you are interfering with their Shaytaani plan and that's when they begin to open their lines of fire against them. This is what we are seeing in the world around us today. Think, and don't leave this thinking to yourself, spread this thought to others; whether they are oppressed people or whether they are nominal Muslims, tell them the words of Allah are clear and the situation we find ourselves today.

License/permission has been given to those who are the victims of aggression… (Surah Al Hajj verse 39)

We don't need license from the United Nations/the man around the corner/the police station or anyone else; we have this license from Allah. When we are the victims of aggression we fight back and we can force them to look in their own book- whether it is the Old/New Testament or the Constitution of the United States or the Magna Carta. Let the look in their own reference books and tell us we are wrong; because even according to their reference book in defending ourselves/standing up to our rights and dying in that process we cannot be wrong!

… and certainly Allah is able is and capable of giving them/us victory… (Surah Al Hajj verse 39)

We don't need this victory from the President of the United States/the Chairman of the United Nations/any other humanoid. This victory comes from Allah and we should expect it to come from Allah. Only Muslim anticipation of this nasr from Allah is what expedites this nasr from Allah to come. Whenever we have these nominal/cultural Muslims expecting some type of credit from kafirs/mushriks they are delaying this nasr from Allah. That is the beauty of where we are in this frame of time and in this place of reference. Orient yourselves and expect what is coming to you to come only from Allah if it is truly Allah who dwells in your heart/conscience/mind.

If you offer Allah victory He will offer you victory and triumph and He will stabilize your position. (Surah Al Hujurat verse 7)

You will not equivocate/go backwards/lose ground/retreat. Your positions are fixed by Allah. If these people, (to whom we made reference), are of any value to us besides being our brethren to us they are establishing this fact in front of our own eyes.

Muslims, brothers and sisters…

Twenty-one years ago at this time the world and the Muslims in the world were watching the crumbling Shaytaani Government in Iran that was supported by the number one superpower in the world. Twenty-one years and twelve days ago the client of the Shaytaani forces was forced by the conviction by the Muslims and their united stand to leave his country because he was no longer secure. With all the military arsenal/weapons of mass destruction/first class technology/regional systems in the area, (the sub systems of this one here), were not capable of maintaining that Shah in power. After twenty-one years now, (minus two weeks), Al Imam Al Khomeini made a triumphant return to his land. This was a man who wasn't taking any signals from any Western powers. He wasn't listening to what the United Nations/Britain/ France/Soviet Union at the time was saying. He placed his confidence, as ever Muslim should do, in Allah; and because he was not part of the transnational interest in the world he couldn't be manipulated by governmental/financial elites they began a chapter of war against him and the Islamic revolution there. Throughout this war he didn't compromise on any principle. Why because Allah was his objective/motivation/goal/inspiration. This is no time to repeat the innuendo that was said/placed in public attention with much evil thought to try to take away/discredit/tarnish this great Imam. What did he say? We're not speaking history here. All of this was done in our lifetime. When he spoke he spoke to you- the average Muslim/person in the street. He spoke to the oppressed people of the world. He said that "the future belonged to the oppressed people." Ash Shaytaan nowadays wants us to believe that the future is on the side of the oppressors. If any of you heard/read about the State of the Union address last night-  the President in that State of the Union was trying to paint a rosy picture of what has to/can be/should be done. We should remind this President and everyone who is misled by his words/rhetoric therein, (as sophisticated as it was presented), of a simple fact that runs the course of the Qur'an/Sunnah/history/human observation/common sense- superpowers can never progress when they are responsible for injustice/tyranny in the world. The unhappy position that this Government is in and eventually it shall falter and inevitably it shall crumble. He wanted to pick in a few words, as if the United States had done something heroic in Bosnia/Kosova when it was doing something Shaytaani in Bosnia/Kosova. Little did he realise that he was giving out his own policies saying "today Americans/Russians are serving together in Bosnia/Kosova." We ask them his speech writers/advisors and he, himself "are they also serving together in Chechenya?" Wouldn't that be the logical next step? And in all of this aren't we the Muslims…

Allah is not some hypothetical. Allah has a will that has to be done on Earth here and His will cannot be done if we are disengaged/aloof/indifferent. His will can only be done when we engage/approach Him and when we are sure of His presence in our life and in everything that we do so that we are able to carry arms/fight when He tells us to do so and to be honoured with victory/ash shahadah when He deems it so.

This khutbah was presented by Imam Mohammad Al Asi on the occasion of Jum'ah on 28 January 2000 on the sidewalk of Embassy Row in Washington D.C. The Imam previously led the daily and Jum'ah prayers inside the Masjid. His speeches were revolutionary and thought provoking, and eventually irritated and threatened the Middle-East Ambassadors who control the Masjid. Finally, the Imam, his family, and other Muslims faithful to the course of Islam were forced out, into the streets. This khutbah originates from the sidewalk across the street from the Islamic Center, currently under seige.
