The Destruction of Makkah & Madinah "The Cradle of Islam" The Saudi's are now set on an unprecedented onslaught, demolishing the birthplace of Prophet Muhummed (saww) and the remaining historical structures in the heart of Makkah and Madinah, the cradle of Islam, revered by the world's 1.7 billion Muslims. Over the last two decades most of Makkah's 1000 year-old historic sites have been bulldozed and replaced by casino style hotels, huge westernized malls, parking lots, roads and public washrooms. Gone forever now the homes of the Banu Hashim -The Prophetic Tribe, gone are the buildings of the loyalist Companions, gone are the longstanding and resolute symbols of Islam's infancy. In Makkah, the buildings where Prophet stayed and was raised by Abu Talib, his uncle and legal guardian, from where he extended his formidable protection and guardianship to the fledgling Islam. The places from where Banu Hashim defended the honour of their Prophet (saww) by taking on the might of the Ummayadi Tribe and the united rest of Quraishite tribes which were hell bent on upholding idolatry, paganism and disbelief. Here it was that the Prophet (saww) in those dusty streets amongst mud lined building proclaimed the truth, from where He (saww) ascended to Al-Miraj (ascension to heaven), from here the disbelievers were shown and invited to the truth. These were the buildings and the gardens in Medina where the children of the Household of the Prophet (saww) played and grew up.
