EID AL FITR 2011
Allah is greater; Allah is stronger; Allah is superior; Allah is more important than any other thing that may distract you from Him. One of the advantages of Ramadhan is Allah's instructions to us
… so that you may magnify and amplify Allah for His guidance to you… (Surah Al Baqarah verse 185)
We know that we are human beings and we know that our human nature is weak- that is why Ramadhan comes to elevate our determination and our willpower above our fragile human nature. Ramadhan was meant to discipline this weak and vulnerable and fragile tendency that we have in us. If we have fasted Ramadhan as a matter of commitment and as a matter of investment in Allah then this is the time and this is the day when we assert that Allah is greater than all of the challenges and all of the dangers and all of the threats that come our way. We don't live and we don't die by ourselves- we live and we surrender our lives in the company of Allah and that is why as a reminder Allah says to us during this month that has just preceded and during the remainder of the year - Allah is saying
… and if My subjects ask you about Me, I am close to them… (Surah Al Baqarah verse 186)
Oh Allah- our Maker, our Creator, our Reference, our Return- in Your proximity to us in Your nearness to us we know that we are living through dangerous times. What do these well equipped people want? They want to declare war against us. They want to us to feel them. They want us to feel inferior. No! That will never happen because we have observed, we have lived (and) we have met the standards that You have given us especially in this past month of fasting and disciplining our proclivities (and) our tendencies. We emerge from this month with a determination to go into the rest of the year by saying Allahu Akbar. Remember- every prayer you begin and you intersperse and you finish off with saying Allahu Akbar. Remember the prayers in the rest of the years- takbirah al ihraam Allahu Akbar; takbirah ar ruku' Allahu Akbar; takbirah as sujud Allahu Akbar. These takbiraat are bowled from this month of Ramadhan in which our spirits are rising to new levels. Don't lose the climax of Ramadhan during the rest of the year. You cannot say Allahu Akbar and mean Allahu Akbar and at the same time feel that you are inferior- that's a contradiction in personality (and) that's a contradiction in behaviour. When you say Allahu Akbar you are in the presence of Allah and Allah is not inferior! They cannot make you inferior when you are with Allah- remember that. Don't forget this- don't forget this next week, don't forget it next month, don't forget it from now until the next Ramadhan. When you say Allahu Akbar you are in the presence, in the company (and) in the companionship of Allah and how can you be inferior (and) how can you be in fear (and) how can we be intimidated when we mean what we say and when we understand what we say?
So what is there? What is going to make us fear? If we do fear (and) if you see some Muslims here and there scared to say the truth, that means when they say Allahu Akbar they don't know what they are saying. It's not a shame to point to our weaknesses because we have to surmount these weaknesses. We do have a weakness in us because Muslims are afraid to say the truth- that's all that is expected of us, to say the truth. What's between you and the truth? An establishment? A system? Tawagheet? Shayaateen Al Ins wa Al Jinn? So what? That's where they should be. That's their function. They want to distract you from Allah. They want you to forget the greatness and the power and the authority of Allah.
… don't be like those who forgot Allah so Allah had them forget themselves… (Surah Al Hashr verse 19)
This in a capsule says where we are today. Whenever you encounter a Muslim who is scared to express the truth about whatever matter- there are Muslims who when you come to try to explain to them political matters, they say "shhh! Be quiet. Someone may be hearing us. Turn off your cell-phone. We can't speak about this in public." We speak about what? What are you afraid of? All the world is speaking about our own affairs. There are militaries now in Muslim territories of the world- Muslim bodies and Muslim societies and Muslim populations are bleeding and crying- and you're scared to say the truth?! What is the value of the word Allahu Akbar? What does that mean to you if you can't even express the truth of the matter? Do we have Muslims who have exercised their willpower during this month of Ramadhan and graduated from this school of Ramadhan with the courage and the confidence to say the truth when people need to know the truth? There are liars all around talking about us (and) we can't speak about ourselves? Do you really say Allahu Akbar? Do you really understand Allahu Akbar? Do you really mean Allahu Akbar? Do you really translate the word Allahu Akbar into character and behaviour? If that was the case then we wouldn't have the liars taking the show and telling us what to think. We would be expressing our God given heart and our Islamic mind on these matters. So next time you say Allahu Akbar and you're going to say it just a couple of hours from now- you're going to Dhuhr salah and the first thing that you're going to say- whether it's the adhaan, it's Allahu Akbar. That's a public declaration of Allahu Akbar for the world to hear. Then you're going to say it even if you're praying by yourself- takbirah al ihram, you're going to say Allahu Akbar. Allah is Akbar concerning what? You mean Allah is Akbar up there in the heavens some where (and He has) nothing to do with our lives? He doesn't care for us? He doesn't love us? He didn't show us the way? He just left us like we live in a jungle somewhere and let the law of the jungle rule? He didn't give us a morality and a law to express and go public with and explain to the rest of the world? What is your Allahu Akbar when you say it? What does it mean- ask yourself. That's another area (where-in) they have paralysed our minds throughout these years. They don't want us to think and in Ramadhan we delved into deep thoughts if we were fasting in a true sense of the word; we went deep inside ourselves (and) we reignited the essential meanings of who we are and now we emerge from this month long exercise and we have to emerge by declaring for all to hear: Allahu Akbar.
(Brothers and sisters, committed Muslims…)
Allah is more important, Allah is more powerful, Allah is more substantial than the lies- the informed lies (and) the refined lies (and) the systematic lies- that fill the air. Allah is greater than those who are fabricating these lies. They want us and they want the whole world to think of Muslims as terrorists. This is another word that is not spoken by people on the Mimbar. Why? They're afraid! They say Allahu Akbar but it's only their tongue and their lip at work- that's all. There's no feeling (and) there's no meaning of Allahu Akbar in their core, in their heart (and) in their essence. It doesn't exist! What's wrong? They can't say "we are not terrorists" because we're not! They are picking on us. When they're picking on us you can't say to them "stop! You are lying. We are not who you are saying we are?" You have all the facts in your possession- you have the Book of Allah, you have the Sunnah of His Prophet (and) you have the struggle of the sacrificing Muslims. All of this is to our credit and to our merit. It's nothing we are ashamed of, it's nothing we apologise for, it's nothing we feel inferior about! That's when we mean Allahu Akbar. They go in with their militaries. They kill in the month of Ramadhan tens of thousands of Muslims around the world in something like a coordinated silence and then we- who don't have military bases in their countries, who don't have armies and army forces in the hundreds of thousands stationed in their states (and) in their territories, who don't have atomic weapons, nuclear capabilities, weapons of mass destruction, who don't commit crimes against humanity- aren't doing any of that and these liars want to turn the picture upside down. They want to make as if we are the blood thirsty people and they are the modern and civilised and educated and cultured?! They are lying. We say this we the confidence of Allahu Akbar. Challenge them, tell them "come. Let's speak about this and let the world listen." Where are the confident Muslims? (Where are) the Muslims of Allahu Akbar? Come, let us discuss this matter in front of the whole world and let the world decide. We have no access to the airwaves and Muslims don't even have the courage to think about having airwaves. Some of us who put together, (maybe), a satellite TV station get unplugged from certain satellites. That's alright. We don't feel weak because of that, we feel more confident because we are irritating the enemies of Allah. We are stirring their raw hostility towards us. They can't speak with equality. They cannot answer and debate on a level field so they divert to their dirty tricks- "privately kill and publicly chill." That's their attitude, that's how they behave. These are Shayaateen Al Ins and Al Jinn around and still we emerge from all of this unstained and we say to them during this and in its aftermath- Allahu Akbar. A word has to be put in for these violators of Allah- these people who occupy the Masajid gave a khutbah, (and they'll continue giving these khutbahs), to keep Muslims in a coma. They don't want us to wake up to the vital meanings of extending this ni'mah from Allah to the rest of humanity. (Take a) look- they're celebrating Eid and they don't let some Muslims go into the Masjid. What are they afraid of? They know us. We have nothing as far as physical and material resources- absolutely synonymous to nothing. The only thing we have is our Allah given mind with our Allah given Book with our Allah given Prophet.; that's the only thing we have and they're scared of that. They violate Islamic unity every Jum'ah (and) every Eid here in Washington DC and they get away with it. They pretend that they are Muslim brothers (and) that they care for the Muslims (and) that they are the Custodians of the two Harams in Makkah and in Al Madinah. They have joined their crowd of liars. They are lying also. There's no iota of Islam and commitment in them. They report to their gods in Washington and the financial capitals of the world. We can say this because we have the confidence and the company of Allah and we will continue to express this truth until Allah takes from us our physical license to be here.
Brothers and sisters we all know the pressures that we have as Muslims in the world but this is a day of Eid. Please be forthcoming to your family, to your relatives, to your acquaintances, to your friends, to your circle of affiliates. Be forthcoming to them. Put a smile on their face. Let the contagion of Allahu Akbar go from you to those who don't have it. Raise their spirits and give them the feeling of brotherhood and care during this time- these three days of Al Eid. May Allah give you of what He has. Eid Mubarak to all and to every one of you.
Wa salaamualaykum wa Rahmatullahi Ta 'Ala wa Barakaatuh ….
This presentation was presented by Imam Muhammad Asi on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr on 30 August 2011. The Imam previously led the daily and Jum'ah prayers inside the Masjid. His speeches were revolutionary and thought provoking, and eventually irritated and threatened the Middle-East Ambassadors who control the Masjid. Finally, the Imam, his family, and other Muslims faithful to the course of Islam were forced out, into the streets. This khutbah originates from the sidewalk across the street from the Islamic Center, currently under seige.
