In Praise of Imam Ali – From Qur'an and Hadeeth (1)

Various scholars of the holy Qur'an, both Sunni and Shi'a, have stated that there are at least 300 verses in the Qur'an that have either been revealed exclusively in praise of Imam Ali, or Imam Ali is mentioned in them at one or another occasion. But, the question is: Why hasn't Imam Ali's name been mentioned in any of them? We will address that issue as we go along in this series of short articles, insha Allah.

According to one statement in a number of books:

"There is no verse in Qur'an in which the term 'Believers' (مومنون ) is mentioned unless Ali
is at the top of them and the chief of them and the more virtuous one,among them.

Surely Allah has admonished the companions of Muhammad(PBUH) in Qur'an in a number of verses

(e.g. 5:54, 9:13, 9:25 and 9:38 to quote a few), but He did not refer to Ali except with honor."
