Leader: Expediency Council in charge of key issues (2012/04/08 - 23:20)
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks while addressing the Chairman and new members of the System's Expediency Council in Tehran on Sunday.
"Counseling the Leader on the general policies of the Islamic System and regulating such policies are two important tasks undertaken by the System's Expediency Council,' the Leader said while elaborating on the status of the System's Expediency Council within the system and its duties as brought in the Constitution.
He referred to another duty of the System's Expediency Council as resolving the issues when the three branches of power face deadlock.
"The exigencies as recognized by the Council should be confirmed by the majority members of the Council," Ayatollah Khamenei added.
